Now available on the EAPN website is a video from the European Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty 2011.

The Irish delegation of Michael Mackey, Laura Pierce, Mary Connors and Karen KitzPatrick focused on the themes of employment, work and jobs. The delegation prepared recommendations and a theatrical presentation of the challenges of those living in poverty. The group presented the constant struggles facing someone experiencing poverty and social exclusion to become independent and gain their dignity.

EAPN “Ireland in Social Europe” Closing Event – Julien Van Geertsom

EAPN Ireland hosted a closing event for the Ireland in Social Europe Project on Friday 10 June, in the European Parliament Office Dublin.

The event marked the conclusion of the two year joint project implemented by:

Community Workers Cooperative
Cork City Council, Social Inclusion Unit
European Anti-Poverty Network Ireland
Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed
Northern Ireland Anti-Poverty Network
Vincentian Partnership for Social Justice

This saw presentations on:

Integration of social inclusion strategies in Cork
Burning issues: adequate income, inclusive labour market activation, and quality services.
Effective consultation and participation of those experiencing poverty and their organisations.

However, the key note address was delivered by Julien Van Geertsom, President of the Belgian Federal Public Planning Service for Social Integration, which discussed the intricacies of Anti-Poverty Policy in Belgium, National Action Plans, Participation and Working Principles.

Communicating Europe Initiative; Skills Seminar Video on Accessing EU Funding

As part of the Communicating Europe Initiative, the European Anti Poverty Network Ireland organised a series of skills seminars for Community and Voluntary organisations in November 2010. The first video from our Dublin seminar included inputs from a range of experts on influencing and connecting with European policy and politics.

This second video provides expert advice from Ronan Gingles from the Irish Regions office in Brussels on accessing EU funding options.
