EAPN Ireland has made a submission to the Department of Social Protection consultation on the setting of a new National Child Poverty Target.

Child poverty is above all about children growing up in families experiencing poverty. That is, without an income that is sufficient to live with dignity and take a full part in society. However, it is about more than not having enough money. The multi-dimensional nature of poverty means it can affect children in many different ways. To understand the reality better, we must listen to the voices of children growing up in poverty. The setting of targets must reflect this reality and be designed to effectively address the multi-dimensional nature of child poverty.
